Thank you, sweetheart!

Okay, I’m going into hospital tomorrow for the operation on my spine and I’m not entirely sure when I’ll be back online again. I’ll have my phone with me but there’s always the possibility that I won’t be able to get internet access or I’ll be too sick to use it. So I’ll take this opportunity to say that I love you all and will hopefully be back soon x

does anyone wanna explain to me charlie’s eye problems?

like i did a quick google and i cant find anything substantial so….

[he was taken for a ride October 17th, 1929 and tortured pretty badly, he was beaten and his throat and face were slashed, and he was left for dead somewhere on Staten Island. I can go into more detail as to the whole thing, but basically there are a few conflicting stories as to what actually happened: The Last Testament (pgs 116-120) says it was Maranzano who kidnapped him (along with a particularly lurid description of what went down), and Mogul of the Mob corroborates it (pgs 129-130); on the other hand, Boardwalk Gangster tears this theory down pretty thoroughly, and goes over the hospital records and Charlie’s grand jury testimony to do it, and instead posits that Frank Costello’s recollection of it - that it was plainclothes cops on the hunt for Legs Diamond - is the more likely story (pgs 45-51). Either way, he ended up in the hospital for at least a week, and in particular the cut on his face severed some of the tendons in his face, thus the droopy eye.]
